FPSB Honors Four for Contributions to the Global Financial Planning Profession

Elaine Bedel, Kevin R. Keller, Tim Kochis and Ulf Mannhardt receive the Noel Maye Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Profession.

The Financial Planning Standards Board Ltd. has honored four individuals for their contributions to the global financial planning profession.

The Noel Maye Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Profession, presented at FPSB’s 20th anniversary celebration dinner on Oct. 18 in São Paulo, Brazil, recognizes the recipients’ leadership, advocacy and volunteer efforts in advancing the global financial planning profession and CFP certification.

“The prestigious FPSB Noel Maye Award celebrates those who have made a lasting impact on the global financial planning profession, representing the values of dedication, passion and pursuit of excellence for which the award’s namesake is known,” said FPSB CEO Dante De Gori, CFP, in a news release. “We recognize these remarkable individuals who have made significant strides to drive excellence in financial planning profession worldwide through CFP certification.”

The award recipients and their achievements, as described by the FPSB, are:

  • Elaine Bedel, CFP: A driving force behind creation of FPSB, Bedel was instrumental in shaping the organization in its early years. As a leading volunteer and personal financial guarantor during the organization’s formation, she helped to ensure FPSB began with a solid foundation. Bedel held several leadership positions, including chairing the Board of Directors.
  • Kevin R. Keller, CAE: As CEO of CFP Board (U.S.) since 2007, Keller has served in many roles including chair of the FPSB Chief Executives Committee. The U.S. certified its 100,000th CFP professional under his leadership this year. He has advocated for initiatives including the launch of CFP Board’s first major campaign to increase awareness of CFP professionals, and fostering a more diverse and sustainable workforce.
  • Tim Kochis, CFP: Kochis a key figure in establishing FPSB. As a volunteer leader and financial guarantor during its formation, he helped to shape the board’s direction. He was chair of the International CFP Council and FPSB Board of Directors, and played a key role in the transferring of the international CFP marks to FPSB. Those actions were critical in taking CFP certification worldwide and spurring the growth of the profession globally.
  • Ulf Mannhardt, CFP: A volunteer with more than 40 years of experience, Mannhardt has played an important role in advancing the global financial planning profession. Since the founding of FPSB, he has served in a variety of leadership roles, including chair of the FPSB Council and Member Advisory Group. As cofounder of IBCPF, now Planejar, Mannhardt has significantly contributed to the growth of CFP professionals in Brazil and worldwide.
